We work incredibly hard to find each dog their perfect home. To ensure all tales end happily, we have put some guidelines into place to give each new family their best chance...
Our adoption process begins with an application, which you can find within each dog's profile. Stats, details and each dog's adoption fee is also listed in their profile. After our open application period, if your application is chosen, one of our staff will contact you (this process may take a few days & up to a few weeks). We will then proceed with a home check and additional screenings. We offer finalizing of adoptions with digital online forms and online payment.
Please Note: Adopters MUST be at least 25 years old. Due to county regulations, we also cannot adopt to households who are already at their legal limit; Orange County & LA County, 3 dogs.
Adoption Fee: Our adoption fee includes spay & neuter, microchip, DA2PP (DHLPP/DHPP) vaccinations, deworming for puppies, Bordetella vaccine and all medical records.
(Please note; some dogs differ in type of vaccine and medical care received, based on Veterinarian recommendations)
Foster- to-Adopt
We realize that adopting a dog is a huge commitment and our goal is for every adoption to be forever. To help make the right decision when adopting a dog, HTR offers a foster to adopt (FTA) program. FTA means that a potential adopter can bring a dog home for a one week trial, to see if the dog is a good fit in their home. There is a $40 non-refundable deposit required for the FTA (if the decision is made to adopt, then the $40 is applied towards the adoption fee).
Littermates
We do not adopt sibling puppies to the same family. Research has shown that littermate syndrome can lead to unhealthy bonding and aggression later in the pup's lives.
Bonded Pairs:
Occasionally, we will rescue two dogs that are determined to be bonded, and cannot be adopted separately. These dogs must be adopted together. No exceptions will be made.
